Radio Futurologist

James Cridland is a “radio futurologist” who just get’s the advantage of combining traditional radio and new platforms to make radio amazing.  After much experience at Virgin Radio (now Absolute Radio) and the BBC he is now working independently.
James has a rather unique and very effective way of making engaging presentations.  Below is an 8 minute presentation he gave recently to the WorldDMB General Assembly in Paris. Watch it and in 8 minutes you too will “get it”.

Digital Radio Show

In October key proponents of DAB from around the world gathered in London for the Digital Radio Show conference. It was held in the Armouries Hall in London with a rather unique wall display as you can see above! The result of the conference was some real information being exchanged on how DAB is progressing worldwide and the following are some notes I made while attending.

After the debacle of GCap “pulling out” of DAB there has been lots of great news coming from the UK in the past few weeks.
The biggest news concerns Planet Rock, one of the most successful stations on DAB, and a surprise casualty of GCap’s corporate survival. Since GCap pulled the plug, Queen guitarist Brian May tried to purchase the station but was beaten to it by entrepreneur Malcolm Bluemel. Nothing like a little healthy competition in a sale!
