Global Update

Good to hear lots of positivity around DAB from within the industry. At last weeks Digital Radio Conference in Belfast, the consensus was that the road to DAB will be a long run and a hard journey, but it is most definitely the way to go. As previously reported the EBU are now to lobby the EU to establish DAB as the main broadcasting platform for the future.

Radio Futurologist

James Cridland is a “radio futurologist” who just get’s the advantage of combining traditional radio and new platforms to make radio amazing.  After much experience at Virgin Radio (now Absolute Radio) and the BBC he is now working independently.

DAB+ Arrives

The argument of DAB v’s DAB+ is over.WorldDMB Receiver Profiles agreed last year by regulators, broadcasters and manufacturers mean all future digital radio receivers will be able to hear DAB and DAB+ and DMB.
The first of these has been launched by the No.1 supplier of DAB chips, Frontier Silicon, who supply mass production DAB chips to the most popular manufacturers including Pure, Revo, Roberts, Sony and many more.
